From Shadows to Light

So I finally had a good night ride that allowed me the privilege of digging deep into the album I just bought recently from Cecilee Landefeld, better known as Lavender Fire. And hearing these songs when I am hosting events doesn’t honestly do them justice; I am checking sound or moving around or looking for my brother. Sitting and listening in the intimacy of my own car and hearing is a very special and rewarding manner. I can hear the craft and the delicate care each song has received from its creators. This is a true sonic experience as Tori Amos would say if I would be so bold ! Each song tells a different story that enriches and resonates on that heart felt level. Having known the artist for 6 or 7 years now (I lost count honestly). It is about time you know who Lavender Fire is and go along this music 🎶 journey with her !⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Alexander M. Best, writer , producer, nominated host and organizer of local events

One of the most memorable aspects about the new album release from Lavender Fire is the sheer fact that she's able to paint such vivid pictures in your head as songs unfold. Her lyrical approach is very personal but also very storytelling, so you can connect with them on different levels. This is a record that certainly lets the artist give pieces of herself along the way, and I'm a huge fan of that simply because I want that from a record like this. - Buzzslayers review

From Shadows to Light is a stripped down, very intimate release by Lavender Fire. Instrumentally, each song contains only vocal and piano performance. I think this has been the most powerful representation of her music as the music relies so heavily on the content of the songwriting; and that is something that she is very passionate about.
Opening with The Arsonist, Lavender Fire wasted no time jumping right into the heavy, as she illustrates a metaphor of taking a match to her past life, everything she had known of life, and walked away from a marriage; a life that was a hiding place for her identity.
From Shadows to Light is powerful in this intimacy. I have the feeling of sitting in a rehearsal studio with Lavender Fire behind a piano, singing each song to me. She’s not performing. She’s telling me, proudly, who she is. She is a person she is still learning about every day. - Jeff Thomas, Fifteen Minutes of Fame Entertainment

East (single)

Like most of her music, East is a stripped down work, just consisting of piano and vocal work. The composition features more movement than most of Lavender Fire’s other releases. She typically features arpeggiated chord progression in her compositions, but with East the composition flows throughout the entire piece.
Lyrically, there is organic reference to the songwriting. One of the thematic elements of her music has historically been water; references to seas, oceans, and being submerged. Though there is reference to that here, there is also references pointing inward to the land as well. This could be a reference to a larger theme, as the song indicates that there is “something new” inside the subject of the song. - Jeff Thomas, Fifteen Minutes of Fame Entertainment

A patient and quietly affecting piece, East unfolds as a meditation on movement, inheritance, and chosen direction. Rooted in gentle repetition, the song resists urgency and instead allows its meaning to surface gradually through restrained arrangement and evocative imagery. The lyrics favor suggestion over declaration, sketching emotional landscapes with natural symbols like wind, hills, and winter drives that feel lived in rather than ornamental.
Anchored in F♯ major at a steady 78 BPM, the track maintains a grounded pulse that mirrors its thematic core. Harmonic motion is sparse but intentional, leaning heavily on tonic variations and suspended voicings that create a sense of forward momentum without instability. When the song steps outward into brief vi to ii passages or IV to V movement, it feels less like escalation and more like breath, reinforcing the idea of travel as continuity rather than escape. - Zander Parks
